Privacy Policy
The short version
- We do not collect, store, or sell your personal data
- We do not track your browsing history or Etsy activity
- All listing data is cached locally on your device only
- We never access your Etsy account, password, or payment info
- Pro users share only their email with our payment provider (Polar.sh)
1. What EtsyRinnegan does
EtsyRinnegan is a Chrome browser extension that helps Etsy sellers analyze market competition, keyword demand, and listing performance. When you browse Etsy search pages or listing pages, the extension reads publicly visible information on those pages and displays research signals in a panel alongside the Etsy page.
The extension connects to our Cloudflare Workers backend to retrieve keyword competition data and niche suggestions stored in our database.
2. Data we do NOT collect
EtsyRinnegan does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following: your name, email address, Etsy account credentials, payment information, order history, personal messages, browsing history outside of Etsy, or any personally identifiable information.
We have no access to your Etsy account and we never log into Etsy on your behalf.
3. Data stored locally on your device
The extension uses chrome.storage.local to cache listing research data on your own device. This cache includes:
- Etsy listing IDs and their publicly visible performance signals (favorites count, shop sales count, in-carts text)
- Competition counts for search queries you perform
- Keyword opportunity data from our servers
This data is stored only on your device. It is never transmitted to us. Cache entries expire automatically after 2 hours and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension or clearing Chrome's local extension storage.
4. Requests made to Etsy
To retrieve listing signals (such as cart counts and favorites), the extension makes requests to Etsy's publicly accessible pages using your existing browser session. These requests are indistinguishable from normal Etsy browsing — no additional login or credential is used. EtsyRinnegan does not use the official Etsy API to access private account data.
EtsyRinnegan is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with Etsy Inc.
5. Requests made to our servers
The extension communicates with our secure backend infrastructure (hosted on Cloudflare) to retrieve keyword competition data and niche suggestions.
These requests contain only the search keyword you are looking up. They do not include any personal information, your IP address is not logged by us, and Cloudflare's standard infrastructure privacy practices apply. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
6. Pro subscription (paid users)
If you upgrade to EtsyRinnegan Pro, your subscription is processed by Polar.sh, an independent payment provider. We receive only your email address and subscription status from Polar.sh in order to validate your license. We do not store payment card details — these are handled entirely by Polar.sh.
Your email is used solely to validate your Pro license. It is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for any other purpose without your consent. See Polar.sh's Privacy Policy.
7. Permissions used by the extension
EtsyRinnegan requests the following Chrome permissions, each for a specific purpose:
- storage — to cache listing research data locally on your device
- activeTab — to read the Etsy page you are currently viewing
- scripting — to inject the research panel into Etsy pages
- tabs — to detect when you navigate between Etsy pages
- webRequest — to intercept Etsy API responses that contain listing data
- host permission: etsy.com — to run only on Etsy pages
- host permission: our workers — to fetch keyword competition data from our servers
No permission is used for any purpose beyond what is described above.
8. Children's privacy
EtsyRinnegan is intended for adults operating Etsy seller businesses. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of EtsyRinnegan after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
